EVCP’s first Charge & Go! Hub Opens
Southport
In September 2025, EVCP launched its first Charge & Go! ultra-rapid hub at the Kew Retail Park in Southport
The site features 4 charging bays equipped with Kempower Satellite V2 dispensers, powered by a single cabinet Kempower Power Unit, all of which were seamlessly integrated into the existing car park. To achieve this rollout, EVCP adopted NAL EV infrastructure solutions.
The importance of the right foundation
CPO’s like EVCP typically have two priorities when implementing EV hubs: Future-proofing Speed of installation
“Future-proof” is a common term used within the EV sector, and with good reason. When investing in this type of infrastructure, it’s paramount that the foundations can accommodate advancements in this rapidly changing technology. Coupled with the added challenge of installing on a live retail site while ensuring groundworks are completed on schedule, time is a crucial factor.
Dispenser foundations
The groundworks phase of any EV hub installation is rarely without its pain points, so NAL developed universal foundations to support all levels of charging dispensers. For EVCP, the most appropriate solution was our HPC foundation, specifically designed to accommodate Level 3 charging, such as the Kempower Satellite V2.
The system consists of:
- The STAKKAbox™ Modula access chamber – rapid assembly through stackable design
- The NAL Retention Socket – steel anchoring system head for retaining dispensers
The height of the chamber accommodates the large bend radius of high power cables, while the socket houses the dispenser with an adapter plate designed specifically for the Kempower V2.
The beauty of our universal foundations is that they protect the site from changing technology. Because the adapter plates are interchangeable, EVCP can upgrade the site with the latest dispenser. Whether it’s a few months of even a few years, our reliable foundations shall remain steadfast, ready to accept an upgrade while avoiding any further groundworks.
Power solutions
When installing the Kempower power cabinet, EVCP recognised the benefits of NAL’s modular EV cabinet base system. Following the same principles of the Universal Foundation, our EV Cabinet Base incorporates:
- The STAKKAbox™ Ultima Connect - a heavy-duty access chamber, ideal for heavy loadings
- Stackable ring sections are built up to provide a large working area for cable pulling
- Steel frames - for securing the cabinets
- Composite access covers - strong, reliable access for cable routing and connections
These combined components offer not only a secure foundation for the power cabinet, but also provide a working space large enough for electrical operatives to climb down into and cable the cabinets internals.
Minimum maintenance, maximum protection
Any CPO will understand the importance of protecting expensive equipment, often with steel bollards; EVCP did one better by utilising X-Last bollards, for reasons such as:
- X-Last are designed for impact - and will rebound into their upright position every time
- Demountable installation - composite sockets enable simple install and removal
- Bespoke colour - supporting CPO branding
X-Last bollards can withstand impact after impact, not requiring maintenance, making them the perfect buffer between EV’s and dispensers. Installing X-Last in NAL’s composite sockets enables simple removal at any time, providing working space for hiabs when moving heavy equipment.
Furthermore, X-Last is available in bespoke colours to help reinforce your brand. EVCP took full advantage, opting fortheir striking ‘Charge & Go! green’.
Setting the standard
This project stands as a testament to the benefits of forward-thinking design and close collaboration with expert suppliers. By prioritising modular solutions and adaptable infrastructure, EVCP has created a robust and scalable charging hub ready to meet the demands of today’s EV drivers—and those of the future.
The successful deployment at Kew Retail Park demonstrates how innovative approaches can simplify installation, minimise disruption, and ensure long-term value. As EVCP continues to expand its Charge & Go! network, this case sets a standard for efficient, resilient, and brand-enhancing EV infrastructure.
