International Womens Day

International Women’s Day (IWD) gives us the opportunity to celebrate the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of our women. Looking at the wealth of talent across our businesses, there’s a lot we can be proud of.

At NAL, we acknowledge that our workforce is comprised of dedicated, strategically minded, and innovative women. In recent years, our group figures show that over 40% of our new recruits are females. This is a figure that stands out in an industry that generally still lacks diversity. Whilst women make up over half the population, they make up just 14% of employees across the construction sector worldwide.

While traditionally, the construction products industry has attracted a higher percentage of males than females, our focus is to champion equality and #BreaktheBias. At NAL, we believe that together we can help forge women’s equality within the manufacture and supply of building products. Our aim is to create a company culture that is diverse, equitable, and inclusive, where difference is valued and celebrated. We want to create an environment that reflects the diversity that exists around us, amongst our customers and within our communities.

We are committed to ensuring we have a diverse workforce from our warehouse floors to our boardroom. Today, on Tuesday 8th March 2022, we want to take the opportunity to champion all our women who make NAL an exciting, progressive and thought-led business.

Here are just a few examples of the incredible women who support our company’s progression through their hard work and leadership.

‘My gender has in no way held back my career, NAL is a growing business, and we embrace inclusivity, diversity and change’ Emma Compagnone, General Manager

‘As the first female Business Development Manager for NAL, I am confident my results and not my gender will mark my success.’ Lindsay Wilson, Business Development Manager

‘From the day I joined NAL, it was made clear that there will be opportunities to learn and progress, and I’m pleased I decided to apply for one and look forward to moving to my new role. It’s great to be part of a business that doesn’t limit me because of my age or gender.’ Sophie Griffiths, Purchasing Officer
