Market Power Pillars

Lower Precinct Food Vendors, Coventry

Coventry city centre is one of many cities in the West Midlands that has received significant funding to support large-scale regeneration projects, enabling improvements to local services, while increasing visitor numbers and boosting the economy.

This involved the massive redevelopment of key infrastructure to include traffic signals, street lighting, pedestrian and cycle routes, all incorporating NAL solutions.

The popular food vendors found in the lower precinct offer their services to locals and visitors alike, so a reliable power supply was a crucial investment. For this reason, the client specified NAL Market Power Pillars, available in 16amp, 32amp and 63amp variants.

The solution incorporates NAL Shallow Depth Retention Sockets for ease of installation and cabling. When additional space is required or the streetscape is reconfigured, the lightweight aluminium pillars are simply removed from the retention sockets. The incoming power supply cable is disconnected by the plug and socket system.

Once disconnected, the cable is safely stored in the head of the Retention Socket; a pedestrian cap is locked in place, providing a flush solution for pedestrian and vehicular access.

The sockets are positively ducted to the structural STAKKAbox access chambers and composite access covers with extra deep frames, which ensure the longevity and aesthetic of the surrounding finished surface.

Together, these solutions provide a fully ducted, demountable system that harnesses all of the benefits of an above-ground electricity point.
