Guardian Access Ramp

Transport for London (TfL) has specified the NAL Guardian Access Ramp to provide safe and secure access for the public when utilising a temporary pedestrian crossing, necessary due to the closure of a footpath for maintenance works, in Soho.

The Guardian Access Ramp has been developed by NAL to address the obstacles associated with tarmac ramps traditionally used for temporary access, which are time consuming and disruptive to install and remove. Alternative options available often use a raised edge design, or have no sides, compromising the Health and Safety of pedestrians when utilising.

Designed with side access on either end to dramatically reduce trip risks and slipping, the Guardian Access Ramp’s quick and simple modular design allows the construction width to be increased with additional sections; whilst the height is fully adjustable to accommodate all kerbs. Suitable for wheelchair users, cyclists and pushchair friendly, when the ramp is no longer required, it is easily dismantled and can be stored for future use - proving highly cost effective.

With a PTV (skid resistance) rating of 64.1, specification of the Guardian Access Ramp has enabled TfL to guarantee optimum Health and Safety within this heavily pedestrianised area; whilst significantly reducing the costs and disruption associated with historical solutions involving tarmac constructed ramps.
